Giorgio Armani on His Health and Possible Successors

Giorgio Armani says his drive to stay healthy actually threatened his life, at one point sending him to the hospital for a 10-day stay.

Armani told WSJ. Magazine that he had to be treated for "a very serious" case of hepatitis in May 2009. The cause was attributed to an unspecified collection of supplements the 78-year-old took before going to the gym every day. "My doctor told me: Get rid of all this sh*t you're drinking," he said.

While Armani wouldn't disclose exactly which substances he was taking, the Journal did suggest one possible motive for taking the supplements. "The house Armani has built is a reflection of himself — the trim, toned, tanned and t-shirted figure that is synonymous with the brand — and he wants to secure a long life for both."

Today, Armani is one of very few designers who owns 100 percent of his own company, where he serves as both creative director and CEO. His position as the man responsible for every aspect of the house's business begs the question as to who will run Armani when he's gone — and the designer says it will probably fall to his two nieces and his nephew. "Look, this succession issue has been at my throat for at least 15 years," he said. "The question is always the same, and so is the answer: as long as I'm here, I'm the boss."

Is Anne Vyalitsyna the World's Next Richest Supermodel?

With her gorgeous looks and tremendous presence on the runway, it's no surprise Anne Vyalitsyna has had major success as a model — but could she eventually earn more than other big names in the business?

The question has been floating around because of Vyalitsyna's work in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Since 2005, she's made eight consecutive appearances in the issue, widely considered one of the most important assignments a model can get. The world's current richest model, Kathy Ireland, made 13 consecutive appearances in the '80s and '90s and parlayed her fame into a licensing empire that sells $400 million worth of products — from furniture to wedding dresses, scented candles, and beyond — every year.

While Vyalitsyna may not have intended to follow Ireland's path to fortune, her work in Sports Illustrated has her on the same track. And with work for Victoria's Secret, Vogue, and Elle under her belt — to say nothing of her scores of other contracts — Vyalitsyna will undoubtedly continue to be a force to reckon with.

Louboutin to Kick Off New Range of Beauty Products.

WWD announced Friday the legendary shoe designer is partnering with Batallure Beauty LLC to create "multiple, unspecified classifications, with the first products slated to arrive on the market in late 2013." Not surprisingly, Louboutin's mysterious beauty range will be categorized as luxury. And like his in-demand heels and handbags, he revealed his plans to introduce a collection "very constructed, quite different and unexpected."

Robin Burns, chairman and co-founder of Batallure, thinks Louboutin's "understanding of women and femininity, and their desire to be sexy and beautiful" should translate well into cosmetics. Since this cryptic message is all there is to go on, we can only speculate about his collection. However, he does consider the 3,300-year-old bust of Nefertiti to be his beauty icon. "It's a perfect beauty," he said, "and the makeup is quite perfect."
Jimmy Choo Launches Interactive Street Style Microsite Choo 24:7

Jimmy Choo's most ardent fans now have a place to see and be seen on the Web.

The posh London-based shoe label has just launched Choo 24:7, an interactive microsite that invites fans and photographers to submit street style images that reflect their personal style.

Shoe lovers can not only check out how tastemakers from Paris to Nashville are styling their signature stilettos, but also create their own Stylemaker photo galleries directly through Facebook or personal digital photo albums. Photos tagged #choo247 on Instagram will also feed to the site, where users will find links to buy the Jimmy Choo pieces featured.

To kick off the project, street style photographer Eddie Newton of Mr. Newton exclusively photographed two special Jimmy Choo fans: editor Caroline Issa in London and actress Jessica Joffe in New York. Throughout the next year, new headline Stylemakers will be unveiled in different cities, reflecting the global personality of Jimmy Choo.
Tyra Banks Speaks Out Against Too-Skinny Models.

Former supermodel turned media mogul Tyra Banks is taking a stand against the images of stick-thin models that are splashed across the pages of fashion magazines and glorified on the runways of New York and Milan.

In response to a recent pledge by 19 Vogue editors to no longer hire models with visible signs of an eating disorder, Tyra Banks wrote an open letter to The Daily Beast and appeared on Good Morning America on Wednesday to talk about her own experiences in the modeling industry and about the pressures facing young women who currently work within the industry.

"When I started modeling, I used to see models who seemed unhealthy backstage at fashion shows," she wrote in her letter to The Daily Beast. "They appeared to be abusing their bodies to maintain a certain weight. These girls were booked over and over again for countless fashion shows and photo shoots. I’m sure many of you today have witnessed this, or even live it. Now, real progress is finally on the horizon. Vogue is stepping up, doing the right thing, and protecting that girl."

The America's Next Top Model creator/host also revealed that, after working as a runway model for years, designers and agencies no longer wanted to hire her when she began to develop curves in her early 20s. Instead of starving herself or quitting the industry altogether, Banks sat down with her mother and crafted a new career strategy that involved flaunting her shape rather than trying to fight against it. That choice eventually led her down the path of becoming a Victoria's Secret angel and a Sports Illustrated cover girl.

Banks actively works to promote this idea of unique, personal beauty on America's Next Top Model and in her own mentoring work with other young models. "I’ve been using the word 'flawsome' a lot. It’s you + your flaws + awesome = Flawsome. I have a big forehead, and I got made fun of all time. When I was a little girl, they used to call me “five-head.” I’ve been teased my whole life, but I continue to rock it with pride," she also wrote.

Tyra concluded her open letter with the hope that others within the fashion industry would be inspired by the admirable step that Vogue has taken to try and curb eating disorders in young models. "Vogue has the power to make and break—whether it’s fashion trends, designers, models, and yes, even industry practices. Their bold stance means that others will follow."

Check out the Good Morning America video to hear Tyra Banks chat with host Lara Spencer about this topic that is very near and dear to her heart.
